Vodacom donated 101 new state-of-the-art cold chain units valued at R1.5 million to Northern Cape Health Department to boost its vaccine storage and delivery.
The handover ceremony took place at Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley, with Health MEC, Mr Maruping Lekwene and Executive Mayor of Frances Baard District Municipality, Cllr Nondumiso Buda, in attendance.
The 101 cold chain units consists of five vaccine freezers, 15 ice-lined vaccine fridges, 30 cooler boxes, 45 electronic temperature loggers, two remote temperature devices and four remote probes. The equipment is being distributed to eight sites across all five district municipalities in the Province.
